Mrs. Karen Marcela Sierra-Hughes
Panamanian attorney with a Master’s in Commercial Law and Public Law. She practiced Law in a prestigious law firm in Panama and was later appointed as Legal Director of the Panama Gaming Control Board. She joined GLI in 2004, developing new gaming jurisdictions throughout the Region while driving GLI’s strategy for regulatory and business development as well as leading GLI ́s service delivery to the region’s operators and suppliers. One of Sierra-Hughes’s main goals is to help regulators in their efforts to improve the regulatory landscape providing valuable advice that will lead to developed their legislation. She is also responsible for all GLI licensing processes as well as the GLI brand in LAC. She holds education certificates from the FBI, UNLV and US Treasury’s OTA. In 2019, Sierra-Hughes received Latin American Gaming Hall of Fame’s prestigious Recognition Award at the 2019 Juegos Miami gaming and was listed in the iGaming Business Magazine ́s 10 Most Influential Women List. In 2020, he was voted Top Leader Lanbase Gaming and iGaming at the Sagse Awards. She is a well- known international speaker, and she is regularly featured in international publications and journals.
